Panthers drop area match with Hoover

The Pelham High School volleyball team fell 25-17, 20-25, 20-25, 17-25 to Hoover in a Class 6A, Area 10 match Aug. 31.

Dana Allen and Porsha Tolbert led the Panthers with 12 kills each.

Tolbert added 11 digs, three service aces and two blocks.

Ashley Kate Kepler added 11 kills and five blocks for Pelham, which dropped to 7-5 overall and 1-1 in Class 6A, Area 10 play.

Julie Bui led the Panthers with 16 digs. Sydney Days finished with a team-high 29 assists. Days also recorded three aces.

Hope Christian tops The Rock

Kelsey Thompson led the Eagles with eight kills in a 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16 win over The Rock.

Hannah Rettig and Teenie Donlin added four kills each for Hope, which improved to 2-1 overall.

Somer Howe led Hope with 11 service aces. Donlin added six aces.

Melinda Mahan recorded a team-high nine assists.
